Ms. Brown is the executive director of human resources at Fort McKay Group of Companies LP in Alberta, Canada. Fort Mckay provides a variety of services to the Canadian oil sands, including long-term contracts in earthworks, logistics, site services, fuel and lube delivery, environmental services and land leasing operations.

Sarah Brown has been employed with Fort McKay Group of Companies for five years, and has grown the department to nine full-time staff. As the executive director, Ms. Brown addresses all high-level concerns, oversees strategic planning and budgeting, and implements strategic structures and processes. She also supports staff, and oversees recruitment, benefits, compensation, labor relations and any other HR related function.

As a former administrative assistant, Ms. Brown received exposure to payroll and other human resource functions. She earned a certificate in business administration human resources management from Keyano College, and attributes her success to her education, preparation and experience.

Going forward, Ms. Brown plans to get more involved with the community, run for city council and possibly establish her own business.
